About Us

It all began in June 2024, when a group of friends decided to explore the mountains of Banff. Tunnel Mountain was supposed to be our first adventure — though at one point, it almost didn't happen. The forecast called for heavy rain, and we came close to calling it off. But something told us to take our chances. By the time we reached the trailhead, the skies cleared, the rain stopped, and the day turned out bright and beautiful — the perfect start to what would soon become a tradition.

After a busy summer, our next adventure came in September at the stunning Arethusa Cirque — right before the season's first snowfall. The crisp air, golden larches, and rugged peaks made it a hike to remember. That day, we realized this wasn't just about hiking — it was about friendship, shared experiences, and our growing love for the outdoors.

By 2025, we regrouped, got organized, and set a new goal: at least one hike every month. Our club grew in size — welcoming new, amazing individuals who share the same enthusiasm for nature and the willingness to take on every challenge the trails bring.

We are a group of like-minded adventurers, building friendships and collecting stories on the trails of the Canadian Rockies. Every hike reminds us how lucky we are to live so close to nature's masterpiece — a backyard filled with turquoise lakes, endless forests, and mountains that never fail to take our breath away.

Every hike we take tells a different story. Sometimes it's a climb through dense forests that opens up to a turquoise alpine lake shimmering high in the mountains. Other times, it's a push to the summit — where the panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies remind us why every step was worth it. Whether it's the calm of a still morning or the rush of standing above the clouds, every trail offers something unforgettable.

We love variety — from chasing golden larch trees in the fall to exploring icy canyons and snowy ridges in the winter. Each season brings its own magic, and every hike challenges us in new ways. No trail is ever the same, and that's exactly what keeps us coming back.

Our adventures aren't just about reaching the destination — they're about the laughter on the way up, the shared silence at the top, and the memories that stay long after we've left the trailhead. We're always searching for that next perfect trail.

Rebranding

Formerly known as the Canadian Bangladeshi Hiking Club, our community evolved into something much deeper than a casual hiking group. As our journeys continued across the Canadian Rockies, we realized we wanted our identity to reflect not only our cultural roots, but also our long-term vision, values, and the type of community we were building together. This led to our rebranding as Duronto Hikers.

Our new identity represents a shift toward building a close-knit community of passionate outdoor enthusiasts who share the same love for hiking, adventure, growth, and meaningful connection. Rather than focusing on becoming the largest hiking group, we chose to focus on creating a stronger and more connected community — one built on trust, consistency, shared experiences, and mutual support on and off the trail.

At Duronto Hikers, we believe the outdoors has the power to bring people together like family. We strive to challenge ourselves, set goals together, support one another, and grow collectively through every adventure we take. While we will continue welcoming new members into our community, we do so thoughtfully and intentionally, ensuring that our growth never compromises the identity, values, and mission that define who we are.
